First produced for Broadway in 1964, HELLO, DOLLY! remains one of musical theater’s most enduring and acclaimed musicals bursting with romance, humor, and some of the greatest song and dance numbers in musical theater history. Based on Thornton Wilder’s hit comedy “The Matchmaker,” HELLO, DOLLY!, follows the exploits of meddling matchmaker Dolly Levi over the course of one unforgettable day as she gleefully meddles in the love affairs of its main characters, while setting her eye on a match of her own. Set in New York City at the turn of the century it is a jubilant and irresistible story that celebrate the joy of living – aglow with one crowd-pleasing musical number after another including “Put on Your Sunday Clothes,” “Ribbons Down My Back,” “Before the Parade Passes By,” and the iconic title song, Hello, Dolly!
Voices of Hope, a not-for-profit community of artists who raise funds for cancer research thru theatrical performance, chose this joy filled production to highlight their own celebration of life. Now in their 15th season, this production will mark the hard earned goal of ONE MILLION DOLLARS donated to local cancer research, contributing to the ever growing source of treatment options that continue to give hope to the VOH vision of a cancer free world.
